The album SOS by SZA is rightly ranked by listeners as one of the best R&B albums out to date. The album is a very moving piece of art, created by one of the most talented singers in the music industry at the moment with hits like all the stars and telekinesis. But now let's switch our attention to the album that will be released in late 2022, SOS! Many people, including me, were introduced to the world of Sza and her incredible vocals through this album when she was all over the media with hit songs like kill bill and low. Again, the highlight of this album for me is her incredible voice and production instead, however on the contrary in my opinion I felt as if the lyrics were a little shallow. With a few features from prominent mainstream artists such as Travis Scott, this album also incorporates mainstream figures to push out more publicity and increase the quality of the work. This year the SOS was nominated for album of the year at the Grammys, however of course lost to Taylor Swift. I would give the piece a solid 8.7/10 stars because of the innovation and how it introduced me personally into the world of Sza and R&B music. I would recommend the music to someone who primarily values sound and vocals over lyrics, and someone who wants to see the perspective of a hard breakup from a woman. Overall, a great starter to introduce yourself to a new style of music and to experiment with what you like!
