Black Adam, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starred by Dwayne Johnson, is the eleventh film in the DC extended universe.  It is a fun superhero movie with a pretty solid plot and cast.  The main character, Black Adam, is an anti-hero which brings questions of morality into the movie as the line between being a hero and a villain is blurred.  The movie starts off in Kahndaq, a fictional country located in the middle east.  The nation is being oppressed by a criminal organization with advanced technology.  During a skirmish between this organization and an archaeologist, Black Adam is awakened from his five thousand year slumber.  Since he had previously freed the ancient people of Kahndaq from a dictatorial king by killing him, he has no issue bringing an end to these members of the criminal organization.  He is deemed dangerous because of this and a superhero group known as the Justice Society is tasked to stop him.  Scenes between the Justice Society and Black Adam are entertaining, as it is interesting and humorous to see how someone from ancient times would interact with people today.  This movie has pretty good action sequences however, it feels like it relies too heavily on CGI at times.  This is especially apparent during the final act, as the villain is simply a CGI’d demon who is extremely generic and forgettable.  Another issue with this movie is the supporting characters.  While some of them are good, many of them feel underutilized and don’t experience much development or growth.  In conclusion, Black Adam succeeds at being an entertaining movie and is probably one of the better films in the DCEU however it is by no means a great film.  I rate Black Adam 3/5.
