The Barrie Public Library looks forward to welcoming everyone back for in-person visits at their locations. Library spaces and services have been updated to support the health, safety and comfort of all visitors.
Our new in-person service includes mandatory face coverings, physical distancing practices, enhanced sanitary standards and observance of the Province of Ontario and the Simcoe Muskoka Public Health COVID-19 guidelines. Strict cleaning protocols have been implemented throughout the libraries with ongoing sanitization of high traffic surfaces and the quarantining of returned materials.
“We are dedicated to building library service back better, so our spaces in both locations have been reconfigured to enable physical distancing and easy access to items. Our goal is to efficiently serve as many patrons as possible during our hours of operation” said Lauren Jessop, CEO of the Barrie Public Library. “Our locations will respect the Ontario Phase 3 reopening capacity limit of 50 people for indoor gatherings. As a result, in-library visits should be brief and no longer than an hour. This will ensure equitable access to our entire community.”
Hours of operation have been extended, for easy access:
- Monday 9:30am – 5:00pm
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:30am – 7:00pm
- Friday 9:30am – 5:00pm
- Saturday and Sunday 12:00 – 5:00pm
A reminder you can return your items FREE without late fees, at our 24/7 outside return slots. Do note items are quarantined before check-in and may appear on your library account for up to 7 days after return.
Everyone is invited to discover the expanded Express Library Service; browse the aisles for books, movies and more or get help from staff, to quickly find needed items. Access our digital library with a 60 minute session on our public computers or with your own device and free Wi-Fi. Printing and copy options available.
For those that would rather visit us online, simply choose your items, place them on hold and schedule a convenient curbside pick-up or drop-in to get your selections. Meet with us online at a Storytime, Coffee Chat, DIY Maker or another program.
